Last night I had the joy of attending the private view ‘Unnatural’ by Joe Rush.
In a stripped back vacant office-building, air heavy with smells of metal, stood artwork fabricated from repurposed railway and machinery parts.
Old and young, tattoos, missing teeth, goths in fluorescent tights, metal armour gilets and even dogs, gathered in a heady mix of reggae and wafts of rollies.
A complex fusion of human non-human, animal non-animal, and in the sentiments of Joe Rush, all framed by friendship from the fossil to the future. A much-needed counter point to the Anthropocene*
Unnatural – Joe Rush – The Bomb Factory – 13-29th March - 206 Marylebone Road
* a proposed, current geological epoch defined by humanity’s profound, irreversible impact on Earth’s climate, ecosystems and geology
